The Final Night

Well, the legislature has officially ended, with a bombshell.

As sick as it may sound to some I simply enjoy being up at the capitol with whomever else has stuck it out over the last 45 days to see the end. The Legislators are typically relieved and many jokes and pranks then ensue just after midnight. Plus being around people who are completely exhausted by this point, and the intern hook-ups are always entertaining to watch.

Well, after several hours of enjoying the intern hook ups and other such nonsense the Senate closed and the Governor with his entire entourage came to speak - it is all very silly to me. Why in the world he has to come parading up the stairs with his entire staff and give some nonsense speech is beyond me, but whatever at least it provides some good entertainment!

After talking with the Senate, he then came to the House. We stood outside, not hearing much of anything that was happening. Next thing we see is lots of tears and hugs. We were all clearly confused by what was going on.

Well, as many of you know now Rep. Kevin Garn admitted to an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Talk about a bombshell. This session was perfectly, neatly book-ended by scandals from both majority leaders in the Senate and House.

Having personally known both Rep. Garn and Sen. Killpack I have learned one thing from all of this - anyone, absolutely anyone can fall away from the church and the gospel. It is unlikely that these incidences just happened, or occurred without previous steps in that direction. If you want to make it to the end you must endure. It all starts with the little things - not reading, not praying... until...

"Wherefore ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward feasting upon the words of Christ, and endure to the end, behold thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life."
